Tonight, I have decided not to write about a particular store or particular item, but the simple bliss that nature can provide for us.  Sometimes, it is but the smallest thing that catches our attention, a small shadow, a leaf floating down easily from a tree, the smell of flowers fresh from the garden.  Nature's bliss is all around us and sometimes, we fail to notice these small but precious gifts.

As I was tending the farm today, I realized how blessed I am.  I am surrounded by the most precious animals, who give me their unconditional love, a beautiful piece of land with rolling green pastures, lovely old oak trees that provide coolness in the heat of day and gorgeous Peacocks that free roam the farm.  Remarkable things, extraordinary things, simple things.

As I prepared to come in for the evening, I glanced across the pasture, steam began rising from the freshly cut grass; the smell of which permeated the air.  Sweet, so very sweet.  I saw a strange silhouette across that pasture, and no matter the struggle, I could not make out what that odd shape was.  I turned around and moved quietly toward the black wood railing, silent, not sure what I was to come upon.  The nearer I moved toward it, the stranger it looked, as the darkness was falling quickly and my vision becoming less and less.

I slipped by a fence post and continued out into the pasture, getting ever closer.  Then, I stopped dead in my tracks, tears came to my eyes and continued down my face as I took in a sight that was so new, so touching. A brand new fawn, with little white dots lay curled at my mare's feet.  Maya was so very interested and looked mostly confused.  She would lean down and sniff the fawn and nuzzle it softly, she too was taking in the smells of nature's bliss.

I watched for what seemed all eternity, never moving from the place where the earth seemed to suction my feet to the ground.  It was such an incredible sight, a mare showing kindness, nurturing, nuzzling, smelling, licking a brand new fawn.  I was overcome with joy and bliss!  Then, I started to worry; where was the mother deer, why had she left her fawn in the deep pasture grass clippings?  Had the fawn been abandoned, was it sick?  And then, as nature often does, I was surprised again.  Maya gently backed away, leaving the darling baby where it lay.  From the corner of the pasture, a gorgeous doe emerged from the woodline, skipping toward the fawn.  She took Maya's place, nuzzling, licking and nurturing her new baby.  Ah, the little one was safe again.

Maya had watched over the new fawn, protecting her from all evil that lurks about in the dusk of night, while the doe attended to another obligation.  I watched in amazement as the doe and Maya exchanged glances, as if to say "Thank You" and "You're Welcome".  They parted ways and both knew that all was well in the world.

As for me, I was and am still, in complete and total awe; feeling pure amazement at what had transpired in front of my very eyes.  Nature provided me with a few moments of pure Bliss, Nature's Simple Bliss....

Here is wishing you and your family La Vie En Bonheur!

The birthstone for the month of July, is the beautiful Ruby.  Like a perfect red rose, the Ruby's rich color speaks of love and passion.  It was called the "Rajnapura" or King of Gems by ancient Hindus, and is among the most highly prized of gems throughout history. The Ruby was considered to have magical powers, and was worn by royalty as a talisman against evil.  It was thought to grow darker when peril was imminent, and to return to its original color once danger was past—provided it was in the hands of its rightful owner!
These stones were also thought to represent heat and power.  Ancient tribes used the gem as bullets for blowguns, and it was said that a pot of water would boil instantly if a Ruby were tossed into it.  Some even ground rubies into powder, which when placed on the tongue, was used as a cure for many illnesses.
The word Ruby comes from the Latin "ruber," meaning red.  It is a variety of the mineral Corundum, the second hardest mineral, after Diamond.  It comes in a variety of colors, and is considered a Sapphire in any color except red, which is designated as a Ruby.  Rubies range in hue from an orangey-red to a purplish-red, but the most prized gems are a true red in color, sometimes referred to as Pigeon's Blood Red.  Large sized Rubies are very rare and valuable.

The gleaming Ruby should adorn,
All those who in July are born,
For thus they'll be exempt and free,
From lover's doubt and anxiety.

The 4th of July holiday, for all of us here in these Great United States of America, is a day to enjoy barbecues, hot dogs, cookouts, family and fireworks.  But first and foremost, the celebration should be based on the essential truth that freedom is bought by sacrifice. There is nothing wrong with picnics and parades on the 4th of July, because we are celebrating our freedom. But as we celebrate our freedom, let us not forget the cost paid by our forefathers in battle, who bought it for us, as they paid for it with the ultimate price. Let us take a moment to pay homage to those brave and valiant men!

Now, let us discuss with whom we will celebrate this most significant of holidays and please share what wonderful plans you have and how your family celebrates!

I will celebrate tomorrow with a very special person in my life, someone who has been there for me, through thick and through thin, has supported my dreams and not only supports my quest for bliss, but is an integral  ingredient within it.  When I had doubts about my ability to continue with my quest, this person lifted me up and reminded me that I was stronger than anything that could be thrown my way.  I was reminded also, that I had a fortitude within me which I did not know existed.  Always the first to praise, support, lift up, encourage and believe in me, this person is always by my side, be it physically or in thought.  And for this, I will be forever grateful.  Thank you Dad for everything you have done and continue to do for me every day of your life.

I also want to take a moment to thank him for his United States Military service.  He volunteered for the Army during a most violent and horrendous time, the Vietnam War.  Thanks to heaven above that he returned safely and has been my rock for low these many years.

We will celebrate with a family cookout, hamburgers, hot dogs and barbecue.  We gather as a family in his huge back yard on the beautiful plot of mountain land on which his log home is built.  Family members come from near and far as the back yard fills with love, laughter and the wonderful smells of the grill wafting through the air.  After everyone is sufficiently stuffed with great food, we proceed to chat, play with the babies, get out the guitars and mandolins (the mandolin would me me, lol).  We play great music until darkness sneaks upon us and then the fireworks display starts in all its glory!

Come share with me how you celebrate the 4th of July!  And in the mean time, I wish La Vie en Bonheur to you and your family!

Colorful Clutches of Etsy  - Animals and Landscapes Galore!

Today I would like to take a moment to highlight one of the most popular ways to address this vivid accessories trend: via colorful clutches of etsy! That's right, whether it's seafoam,, aqua, or a striking orange, these eye-popping bags are an excellent way to accent a neutral ensemble or match your bright separates this summer and fall.

Perhaps one of the easiest ways to incorporate a colorful clutch into your daily rotation is to pair it with a neutral outfit. The pop of color will really stand out against a clean and simple ensemble, giving your overall look a subtle playfulness that's hard to ignore. The bright colors illuminate the sober separates, giving that pop of beautiful color and energy.

Color Blocking

Now, if you're feeling a bit more daring and are ready to fully embrace this season's color trend, you can always pair your vibrant clutch with one or more eye-catching separates for a high-impact ensemble. One of my favorite ways to execute this smart outfit idea is pairing a colorful clutch with a bold print,Dying to get your hands on a colorful clutch this season? I know the feeling, so I have rounded up a pretty fantastic selection of petite carriers to get you in the mood for all your summer and fall soirees!
